Successful Special PTA at WEPS

On Tuesday 6 May (The day before our National Elections - which marked 20 years of freedom in South Africa) we held a Special PTA.  We called it a Special PTA, because it was indeed very special:  We invited the parents of our learners who are at risk of repeating.  Other parents could also attend if they wished.

Reading Volunteers Needed in 2014

We are appealing to community members to come and offer their assistance with our new Reading Literacy Programme.  Each adult will be responsible to assist a small group of Grade 1 or 2 learners to read.  Each group will consist of about 4 learners.

Adults who have a few hours free during the week, are welcome to join us in improving the basic reading skills of our learners - who are mostly from the black townships.

Teacher Needed for 2014

We have decided to extend the deadline for applications for the Grade 6 - 7 Post (which is available for the duration of 2014) to Monday 25 November 2013.  Applicants must be able to teach English and Afrikaans.

Qualified educators who wish to apply, must please forward their CV to us by Monday (25-11-13).  Educators who have previously applied, must please indicate if they are still available.

All applicant will be informed by Tuesday 26 Nov. whether they will be invited for an interview.  Interviews will be conducted during the first week of December 2013.

Walmer Primary Concert 2013

We all enjoyed a wonderful evening of entertainment by our very talented little (and some not quite so little) learners at the Zonnebloem Nest Hall.

During the first half of the concert we were all entertained by the learners who attend the Speech & Drama classes, which are offered by Isabel and Luella from the Isabel Beyers School of Speech.

 

WEPS School Concert

We are all very excited to see our learners do their performances tonight at the Zonnebloem Nest Hall.  The Concert will consist of two Parts:  1.  The Speech and Drama learners (trained by the Isabel Beyers School of Speech) will show what they've learnt thus far. 2.  Our other learners will also showcase their natural talent from Grade R  to Grade 7. 

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Library Launch

Our Library Launch was a wonderful event.  Our guests from The Waterfront Rotary Club (WFR) were very impressed with the presentations by learners and guests.  The WCED were represented by Mrs Vanessa Minnaar and Mr Junaid Daries.  They were equally happy.

Intermediate Phase Teacher Needed

We are currently in need of an Inter-Sen Educator: i.e. an educator who can teach in both Intermediate and Senior Phase.  The post involves teaching mainly in the Grade 6 class, but some time will be spent with Grade 4 - 7 learners. 

The main subjects to be taught include English and Afrikaans.  This is a SGB paid post - the educator will thus be paid be the SGB of our school and not WCED.
